Angkor Temples in Siem Reap

With the emergence of Cambodia as a tourist destination after decades of tyranny and occupation tour operators are promoting the adventure destinations of the country.

While the majority of people travel to Cambodia to visit the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap there are hideaway places off the beaten tourist track for the more adventurous traveler. In Cambodia this encompasses traveling away from the Siem Reap – Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville route to explore the relatively sparsely populated areas of Cambodia.  (more…)

Bangkok City

The Thai culture takes annual festive and events quite seriously. Whether it is a celebration or commemoration, every event is a reason for fun and excitement. Whatever the time of the year might be, a visitor to Bangkok is sure to be an audience or participator in some event of the Thai Calendar. Depending on the occasion and its nature, an event can last from a day to a month of food, culture, arts, music, business, sport or even lifestyle. Some festivals and events display strong cultural imminence while some others offer advantages of grand shopping bargains and mouthwatering Thai delicacies. Whatever the reason might be, the life, the culture, the color is all an absolutely wonderful opportunity to revel in all things Thai.  (more…)

Current TV

Direct Star TV

Current TV is without question my favorite TV channel. I got hooked on it late last year after stumbling onto “The Rotten Tomatoes Show”. Prior to that, I hadn’t given it much thought and didn’t know anyone who ever watched it until I looked up my direct tv channels in Washington, where I currently live, and found out that I had the channel.

“The Rotten Tomatoes Show” is like the old “Ebert & Roeper” show where two people sit around giving opinions about the latest movies. The hosts are funny, they perform hilarious skits, and they air reviews generated by viewers. I thought that gave it a nice, personable touch.

I started flipping through their list of shows (it is channel 358 on DirecTV). They sounded interesting, so I recorded a few and checked them out when I got the time. It did not take long for Current to become my favorite after that.

‘Infomania’ is great, too, kind of like “The Soup” in how it satirizes the media and popular TV shows. The jokes are vicious and never let up, plus they are laugh-out-loud funny. Their special segments steal the show (no pun intended), especially “Viral Video Film School”.

Another one I like is “Max & Jason: Still Up”. It features documentaries from around the world on a variety of topics. They are educational and enjoyable, and it really is like no other show I have found on TV. A lot of shows on Current TV are like that, though, and I find myself skipping other channels now just to get to it.

Borobudur Temple: Budhis Mystery in Stone

Borobudur | Budhis Temple | Exotic Place

Borobudur is the answer Buddhism – at a point in its history halfway between the appearance of its founder the Great Buddha Sakyamuni (Siddharta Gautama) and our time – gave to the ever-lasting enigma, that is, the relation of the unreal and illusive world in which mankind opereates and the ultimate reality behind it all. It is an answer of human religious feeling or spiritual feeling – the union world of forms and reality or man and God.
